On behalf of our client, a smaller, European law firm with approx. 25 attorneys, economists and tax advisors that operates an office in the Zug/Switzerland area and specializes in advising multinational groups on corporate and tax law, we are seeking immediately or by arrangement an „Associate (100%)“. The draft job description reads as follows (with minor adjustments from us):

Responsibilities:

• Be part of the firm’s Legal & Tax practice group
• Support and manage national, international and cross-border projects and cases such as the establishment and operation of international holding, licensing, finance, treasury and operating companies; as well as reorganizations, mergers, migrations, inversions, divestitures and similar transactions
• Ability to work independently
• Expansion of the Legal & Tax team’s market presence, whereby own accents may and should be set
• Acquisition and handling of mandates in the field of national and international Legal & Tax law
• Ongoing monitoring of developments in national and international legislation and case law as well as regulatory requirements
• Drafting of legal correspondence, opinions, concepts, contracts, claims and other legally relevant documents on legal issues; mainly in the area of corporate and tax law
• Collaboration with colleagues from the firm’s other locations
• Selection, instruction and supervision of correspondent attorneys
• Manage and coordinate contacts with government agencies, authorities, (industry) associations and other organizations

Requirements:

• Continental European law degree (lic. iur. or MLaw) and preference for Swiss Bar Exam; additional degrees like Swiss certified tax expert (or ongoing related training) would be a plus
• At least 3 years‘ Swiss legal experience gained in-house at a multinational group or at a law firm or other consulting firm advising multinational groups; in all cases with a strong exposure to tax and corporate law issues
• Fluency in German and English (each at least level C1); other languages such as French or Spanish would be a plus
• Knowledge and experience in national and/or international tax law, as well as corporate law
• Highly organized and efficient working style, ability to manage a high workload and conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment; attention to detail
• Ability to analyze business requirements from a Tax & Legal perspective and transform them into actions and guidelines
• High loyalty and integrity; strong ethical fundament
• Committed to avoid any reputational risks for both the firm and its clients from a Legal & Tax and compliance perspective
• Down-to-earth character, solution-driven, goal-oriented and assertive with a diplomatic flair
• Able to communicate, present and negotiate in a clear and concise manner (orally and in writing)
• Interest and ability to build and manage effectively relationships (internally & externally) and to work in an international setting with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams; strong awareness of cultural differences
• Residence in the greater Zurich/Zug/Lucerne area
• Ability to travel (approx. 20%)
