For our customer, a multinational bank with a location in Zurich, we are seeking a Senior Lawyer (possibly Team Leader Legal). The draft job description reads as follows (with minor adjustments from us):

Responsibilities:

• Ensure ongoing, comprehensive, high-quality legal support for the bank’s business, for all transactions of the business lines Commodity Trade Finance, Global Markets and Corporate Banking Solutions the bank is engaged with, and for all other functions within the bank
• If applicable, grow, educate and manage a small team of 3 eager, motivated and dynamic legal professionals that covers all aspects of legal support to the bank, has a good team spirit and close collaboration within the team, closely collaborates with all teams and top management of the bank, and, next to the day-to-day work, is involved in various projects for the benefit of the bank
• Provide all legal services on company level and to all other areas/functions beside the business
• Advise, supervise and instruct all corporate bodies in respect of legal matters
• Ensure that current market and group standards and good banking practice, in terms of legal matters are implemented and complied with
• Maintain and update all relevant regulations, directives and processes in relation to legal matters as well as being responsible for all corporate legal matters of the bank

Requirements:

• Master degree in law of a renowned Swiss university; ideally complemented with a bar exam and/or UK law degree
• At least 10 years‘ work experience as corporate lawyer in a Swiss bank/broker or in a Swiss law firm specializing on financial markets
• Fluent and professional English language skills (at least level C1); additional languages like German and/or French would be a plus
• Hands on working attitude – providing solutions for difficult and complex issues on your own is essential
• Very good knowledge in corporate banking area preferably with special expertise in corporate credits, loan markets, distressed assets recovery
• Experience in European and Russian/former CIS countries markets
• Solid experience in international finance transactions (especially hands-on experience on all material credit related business aspects) under Swiss and English law including profound knowledge of common hedging concepts (collaterals, pledges, suretyships, guarantees etc.)
• Highly-motivated and very experienced legal professional with profound legal education, strong quantitative and analytical skills, who is looking for a challenging, dynamic and growing environment
• Dedicated, spirited and passionate lawyer with excellent inter-personal skills, multi-cultural awareness as well as independence and resilience
• Swiss/EU passport or valid Swiss work permit (mandatory)
