For our client, an international, listed life sciences group operating a small branch in the area Basel/Zurich with appr. 200 FTEs, we are seeking the Manager Health, Safety & Environment (f/m):

Responsibilities:

  • Acting as HSE Manager of the local site
  • Drive the site’s long-term continuous improvement in HSE & sustainability in a pro-active manner
    Lead HSE initiatives as well as monitor performance and progress with regard to HSE compliance and continuous improvement by advising and influencing internal stakeholders on group policies & requirements and national regulations
  • Provide inspirational leadership and proactively engage with people on relevant HSE topics and related behaviours
  • Contribute to the local HSE committee and report to the site’s General Manager
  • Advising and preparing proposals/objectives on the implementation of relevant HSE requirements for approval by site management
  • Leading HSE audits within the organisation and supporting adequate follow up
  • Investigating HSE incidents and advise on actions to prevent recurrence
  • Managing implementation projects related to HSE compliance and improvement
  • Co-ordination of emergency response/security operations and the preparation of contingency plans for accidents and incidents
  • Advise on HSE training programmes and initiatives
  • Staying abreast of developments with regard to laws and regulations, and facilitating the exchange of experience and best practices

Requirements:

  • Qualification in Natural Science or Engineering
  • A specific education or experience as safety engineer or similar is a clear advantage
  • Significant people management experience gained in an operational environment
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven track record of leadership and driving project management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Essential behaviours are high levels of self-motivation, strong influencing skills, risk awareness and attention to detail
