Head Legal & Compliance (Family Office) [CLOSED]

For our customer, an international single family office and consulting firm that was recently established in the center of Lucerne, we are seeking a Head Legal & Compliance:

 

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Management Team, build up, and manage, the Legal & Compliance department and thereby transform the current setup from outsourcing to insourcing
  • Manage all legal & compliance matters the company and its clients, incl. the family, may require
  • Prepare, review and negotiate various types of commercial agreements and other legally relevant documents
  • Ensure that the Family Office as such and all its activities, incl. management of investment operations and reports, and provision of consultancy services to the family and other clients, comply at all times with all applicable laws and regulations, incl. rules of self-regulatory organisations
  • Perform Know Your Customer („KYC“) and Anti-Money Laundering („AML“) reviews and analysis
  • Perform and support due diligences
  • Provide compliance advice and handle inquiries regarding any compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Establish, implement, and monitor compliance with, internal policies and processes
  • Provide internal training on legal & compliance topics
  • Maintain legal & compliance records and handle the associated administrative tasks
  • Prepare and support regulatory audits
  • Select, instruct and monitor external advisors on projects
  • Manage a Paralegal

 

Requirements

  • Master of Law (lic. iur./MLaw) from a Swiss university and Swiss bar exam are required; other postgraduate degrees would be a plus
  • 7-10 years experience in the field of Legal & Compliance, ideally gained in the Financial Services sector, at a renowned law firm or consulting firm, or at a family office
  • Strong knowledge of Swiss and international laws and regulations governing Family Offices and the Financial Services sector as a whole
  • Experience in handling KYC and AML matters
  • Proven track record in operating and leading a Legal Department in a tactic and strategic way
  • Fluency in German and English (orally and in writing); other major languages would be an asset
  • Proven leadership experience; ability to collaborate within a strong team
  • Ability to recognize and weight business and legal risks
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks based upon deadlines and level of importance
  • Very precise, rigorous and high level of attention to details
